Association for Doctors of International Health in Training

VAIGO

VAIGO is the physician assistant association for doctors of International Health (AIG) in training.

Association for AIG in Training
VAIGO is the association for junior doctors training to become doctors of international healthcare (AIG). AIG training is provided by the training institute IG.

Our priorities

  • Advocacy: We are committed to the interests of junior doctors.
  • Quality assurance: We are actively working to ensure the quality of training.
  • Connection: VAIGO connects junior doctors and AIGs with each other and with the wider network of international healthcare.

How do we realise our goals?

Members of the VAIGO board participate in meetings of the NSGH board and the Concilium IG (CIG). This is how we influence important decisions around training and contribute to the future of the profession.

We also organise various activities to promote knowledge sharing and networking. Examples include:  Global Health Inspiration Day, additional course days, social events such as get-togethers and alumni days.

VAIGO also plays an active role in progressive projects, such as:

  • Consult Online: A platform connecting doctors abroad with specialists in the Netherlands for advice on medical issues.
  • Linking Doctors: In collaboration with the Global Health Knowledge Centre (KCGH), we have developed a platform that maps and connects all players within the Global Health field - such as (para)medics, researchers and institutions.
  • ‘Into the World’: a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of international healthcare.
