TGM is the post-colonial successor to the Geneeskundig Tijdschrift voor Nederlandsch-Indië; from 1992, the Acta Leidensia were incorporated into TGM; in 1993, TGM merged with four other European journals to form Tropical Medicine & International Health (TMIH), official scientific journal of ECTMIH, hosted in its entirety on the internet by the publisher (Wiley-Blackwell).
TGM and its predecessors (Documenta de medicina geographica et tropica, 1952-1957, and Documenta neerlandica et indonesica de morbis tropicis, 1949-1951) have been scanned by the KIT library, as has Acta Leidensia (1926-1992), with funding from the TMIH Foundation.
