Doel en visie van de stichting
De stichting Steun Internationale Verloskundige en Gynaecologische Zorg is verbonden aan de Working Party on International Safe Motherhood and Reproductive Health (ISM&RH). Deze werkgroep is een werkgroep van zowel de Nederlandse Vereniging voor Obstetrie en Gynaecologie (NVOG) als Netherlands’ Society of Global Health (NSGH).
De werkgroep heeft als doel de maternale gezondheid en vrouwengeneeskunde in lagelonenlanden te verbeteren door gezamenlijke projecten met lokale organisaties en personen. Dergelijke projecten verbeteren de kennis en vaardigheden van de lokale en Nederlandse zorgverleners. Wetenschappelijk onderzoek wordt gestimuleerd door te investeren in netwerken en het ter beschikking stellen van wetenschappelijke kennis en ervaring. Dit heeft al geleid tot meerdere proefschriften.
Wij dragen actief bij aan het opleiden van artsen Internationale Gezondheidszorg en Tropengeneeskunde en wij streven naar het onder de aandacht brengen van maternale gezondheid en vrouwengeneeskunde in lagelonenlanden en bij vrouwen met een laag inkomen in Nederland.
De ISM&RH heeft de volgende doelen:
- aandacht voor lagelonen-problematiek bij vrouwen in Nederland
- het verbeteren van maternale gezondheid en vrouwengeneeskunde in lagelonenlanden
- het stimuleren van wetenschappelijk onderzoek over Global Health
- het opleiden artsen Internationale Gezondheidszorg en Tropengeneeskunde

Activiteiten
2024
- 6 maart Digitale vergadering waarbij twee PhD studenten hun promotie hebben gepresenteerd.
- 14 juni Symposium “Geboortezorg asielzoekers”, MCL Leeuwarden. Een avond waar meer dan 100 geboortezorg medewerkers van de 1e en 2e lijn bij elkaar kwamen.
- 3 september Digitale vergadering met als onderwerp “Global Oncology”
- 29 november Vergadering OLVG met als onderwerp “Female Genital Mutilation”.
2025
- 5 februari Digitale vergadering met als onderwerp “Maternal Health in Gaza”.
- 15 mei Vergadering in de vorm van een mini-symposium tijdens de Global Health Day, georganiseerd door Kenniscentrum Global Health.
- 24 september Digitale vergadering met als onderwerp “Zorg van kwetsbare vrouwen in Afganistan”.
- 12 november Vergadering voor niet alleen de leden, maar ook de tropenopleiders met als onderwerp “AIG, wat moet je er mee”. Deze vergadering is gekoppeld aan het gynae congres in van der Valk Hotel in Houten.
Wetenschap
De ‘Safe Motherhood Series’ is een verzameling van proefschriften van leden van ISM&RH, gestart in 1995 door Dr. Jos van Roosmalen.
Een PhD maakt deel uit van deze collectie als het voldoet aan de recent gedefinieerde volgende criteria:
- Het PhD-onderwerp voldoet aan de doelstellingen van de ISM&RH en gaat over Veilige Moederschap en Reproductieve Gezondheid, voornamelijk onderzocht in landelijk middeninkomensgebieden.
- Het PhD bevat een pagina die verwijst naar de Veilige Moederschap-serie.
- De term “Veilige Moederschap-serie” staat op de omslag vermeld.
- Minimaal één lid van de ISM&RH is bij het project betrokken als promotor of mede-auteur (co-promotor).
- Het PhD-boek zal op deze website worden gepubliceerd.
- De PhD-kandidaat zal de PhD-resultaten presenteren op een van de ISM&RH-bijeenkomsten (reguliere bijeenkomst om de 2 maanden, symposium of congres).
